Mentor & Recovery - Supporting a Sober Life
Life Skills

More than a "Big Book" and a Bed.

Each member of our community is required to continue to build on their introduction and involvement in Alcoholics Anonymous and participate in active sponsorship. We believe this is essential to long term recovery. An important difference in our community is a “life skills mentor” who volunteers his time to develop and support a working “life plan” covering issues and skills in addition to the core recovery principals. The plan outlines and set goals in areas of education and training, financial management, business skills, artistic endeavors, attitudes, career path, family, physical well being, service and community identified by dreams, desires and common sense. This plan is outlined and measured in a workbook provided by M&R and populated by our member and his mentor. A contract is set outlining goals and dates for completion. Progress on set goals and benchmarks will be agreed to and our client will be required to take responsibility for his progress.

Our community of successful and connected business leaders will provide access to the Austin business community once this outline is complete and focused and the member has earned the trust and respect of his mentor. Our ultimate goal is to be effective in supporting our clients in meeting AA’s 7th tradition - to be fully self supporting though his own contributions.

We have service commitments from professional men such as Bankers, Attorneys, Doctors, Business Owners, State Officials, Sales Professionals, Real Estate Executives and Developers and a wide range of Trade Professionals to help guide and provide accountability. In addition, we have commitments in the Austin business community for short term clean and safe contract labor to assist our members in the development of responsible skills. We will also actively pursue the Austin Business community through HR directors of Austin’s largest corporations, small business associations and networking groups.

We believe this combination of human and spiritual principals operate for the good of all and are essential to long term recovery.

Our community "Inspires & Requires"

So M&R is about community. Our community inspires and requires, supporting men to find a new way, a new life and a new happiness through mentorship, direction and support, accountability and action. M&R is about developing relationships, skills and attitudes towards living a purposeful sober life.

We are a house with a open heart and an open mind. M&R is not for everyone. But if our members are willing to show up and go to any lengths, we will as well.
